
Welcome, finalists of the Philippines!
Let’s spin the globe a bit further east and fly over from Ukraine to the Philippines, to the country that kicked off Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 already in March – with an impressing event in Quezon City where goverment officials as well as Creative Commons activists held keynotes and speeches. The Philippines planned their local contest around their climate, as the early summer (April/May) is the best photo season – followed by several month of rain season, the “tag-ulan“ (as I just learned from the English Wikipedia article …).
However, Wiki Loves Monuments Philippines kept up activities and promotions on a high level throughout the rainy season until September, when over 2,300 photos where uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Congratulations!
So let’s have a look at the winners of Philippines, who have been awarded already in a ceremony in Manila this month (you are really quick, guys!):
